With the help of the Intervention and Reporting Hotline, Ministry Scrutinizes Obscene Publications for Children

The first notices have been submitted by the citizens to the Reporting Hotline for Intervention to Obscene Publications, operated by Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services. Most of the applications have been made on the contents of books.

The Ministry continues its efforts to ensure the healthy development of children by protecting them from all kinds of neglect and abuse. The Ministry operates mechanisms for children to use information technologies in a conscious, safe, healthy, ethical and humanitarian environment. Through its Social Media Working Group, the Ministry responds immediately to incidents such as neglect and abuse that children are exposed to on the internet and examines books upon complaint and acts as an expert witness to the judicial courts regarding the crime of obscenity with the help of the Committee for the Protection of Minors from Obscene Publications.

First notices have been received through the Reporting Hotline for Intervention to Obscene Contents, launched in October 2020 in order to receive notices on publications or applications that are considered harmful to children.

While most of the notices submitted are on book contents, there are also applications regarding posts from social media network providers, internet games and cartoons.

Applications made by phone calls are the most preferred among the options of "form", "e-mail", "WhatsApp" (90 530 918 11 17) and "BEEP" notification that were announced on the website of the Ministry (https://www.ailevecalisma.gov.tr/chgm)
