Child Rights Advisory Board Meets Online


Children, members of the Child Rights Advisory Board, has come together at the meeting chaired by Zeliha Sağlam, Director General of Child Services.

20 child members from the Child Advisory Board and Jairus Ligoo, Nilgün Çavuşoğlu, Çağla Togan Çelik as UNICEF Representatives, and managers and professionals working in the field of children's rights have attended the online meeting.

Activities Initiated for the 22nd National Children's Forum

At the meeting where the recommendations made in the 2020 Advisory Board meeting and the activities done on the action plan have been evaluated, the planning for the 2021 Action Plan and the suggestions on the theme of the 22nd National Children's Forum to be held in 2021 have been discussed.

Ms. Sağlam, Director General has a conversation with child representatives about the school agendas in the distance education process and their activities in the cities where children live, at the meeting.

Committees on the Rights of the Child

Provincial Child Committees on the Rights of the Child, established by the Directorate General of Child Services in each province, work to spread the principles and provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child to all segments of the society, including adults and children, and to activate children's participation in all matters concerning children. The committees, represented by one girl and one boy from 81 provinces, have 29.344 child members. Considered as one of the rare examples in the world with the activities they carry out and the number of active members, Committees on the Rights of the Child struggle for the spread of children's rights throughout the country.

What is the Child Rights Advisory Board?

Established to coordinate the Provincial Committees on the Rights of the Child operating in 81 provinces, the Child Rights Advisory Board takes part in the planning of activities to be carried out at national and international levels. The Board shares its action plan with the committees and follows it up every year. It is also among the duties of the Advisory Board to determine the agenda of the meetings and, when necessary, to make recommendations regarding the children's field and submit it to the relevant authorities.

The Child Advisory Board consists of 20 children selected from among the members of the Provincial Child Committees on the Rights of the Child, through elections held every two years at Children's Forums.
