Within the scope of “Children Are Safe” Program, which was initiated by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Services to monitor children in different risk groups and to timely intervene through Social Service Centres (SHM), particularly children under protection and care and their families, 55.700 children have been monitored so far.
Within the scope of the Program, teams composed of professionals and Family Social Support Program (ASDEP) personnel working in children's units within Social Service Centres in each province pay regular home visits and evaluate the needs of child and family.
Besides professional intervention, teams may refer to other public institutions and organizations where necessary.
Among those who are monitored by the professionals working in child units in SHMs and ASDEP personnel are also children concerning whom the decision of protection or care measures was revoked and who were delivered to the family whilst under protection and care in institutions affiliated to the ministry, who are found to be working on the street by mobile teams or released from prison upon reduction of sentence. In addition, siblings of the children under protection and care, residing with their families, are also being monitored by teams.
Within the scope of the “Children Are Safe” Program, 55.700 children have been monitored across Turkey since 2019.
