Our Minister Derya Yanık: “In September, we provided a total of 9.6 billion TL allowance to our citizens in need”


Family and Social Services Minister Derya Yanık announced that they paid a total of 9.6 billion TL in September to meet the basic needs of citizens in need.

Minister Yanık said that they did not leave the citizens in need alone in many areas such as Türkiye Family Support Program, disability and old-age pension, electricity consumption allowance, general health insurance premium payments and education support.

Stating that they share the prosperity of developing and growing Türkiye with the Türkiye Family Support Program, Minister Yanık said, “We have always prioritized the distribution of our resources for the benefit of all segments of society and we are working in this direction. In this context, we provided 882.7 million TL of allowance in September with our project that we implemented.

Noting that they stand by people in every field such as education, health, economy, and social life so that persons with disabilities and older persons can live independently through their full and effective participation in social life, Minister Yanık said, “In this direction, we delivered old-age pensions and disability pensions worth 2.1 billion TL in total to the beneficiaries in September."

Emphasizing that they provide economic support to persons with severe disabilities and their families in need of care, Minister Yanık said, "In this context, we deposited 1.8 billion TL of Home Care Allowance into accounts in September."

340.5 million TL to families through SED

Stating that they care about children being separated from their families for economic reasons, preventing them from growing up in different environments, and raising them as healthy individuals together with their own families, Minister Yanık said, “With Social Economic Support (SED), families in need can meet their children's other needs, especially education. Accordingly, we provided a total of 340.5 million TL support to our families.”

Noting that they regularly transfer funds to the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations in 81 provinces and districts in order to carry out their social assistance activities, Minister Yanık noted that they provided 243.4 million TL of allowance for September.

Needs of older persons are met through VEFA

Minister Yanık said, “With the Vefa Project, we meet the needs of older persons, persons with disabilities, those who cannot fulfill their own self-care due to severe chronic diseases and citizens over the age of 65. Thus, we made a payment of 19.2 million TL in September.”

Stating that they support citizens who do not have health insurance or whose health insurance premiums are covered by the Ministry, Minister Yanık said, "As the Ministry, we have undertaken the amount of 3.3 billion TL that our citizens have to pay to SSI."

Reminding that they provided Electricity Consumption Support to the needy households benefiting from regular social assistance programs, Minister Yanık stated that they provided a total of 285.9 million TL allowance for September.

231.2 million TL educational material support

Stating that they support children to grow up as educated individuals with education-oriented social assistances, Minister Yanık said, "With the opening of schools in September, we transferred a total of 231.2 million TL to 973 Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations in order to meet the education costs of children in needy households and to support their education."

Regarding the other assistances that took place in September, Minister Yanık said:

“We provided 8.5 million TL allowance within the scope of housing assistance. We provided support to the citizens in need living in old, neglected and unhealthy houses for the maintenance and repair of their houses. With the help of the food bank of 4.6 million TL, we provided older persons, persons with disabilities, and our citizens who are not able to cook at home, with food. Within the scope of maternity benefit, we provided 33.2 million TL cash benefit to our citizens. In addition, we provided 2.4 million TL allowance to meet the various needs of the relatives of martyrs and veterans.”

Underlining that they provide social assistance completely on a need-based basis, Minister Yanık said, “In September, when we added our other social assistances in addition to these supports, we provided a total allowance of 9.6 billion TL to the citizens in need.”
