World White Cane Visually Impaired Week Awareness Meeting was organized online with the participation of officials, staff, visually impaired individuals and representatives of non-governmental organizations.

 

World White Cane Visually Impaired Week Awareness Meeting was held online with the participation of General Manager of Disability and Elderly Services Dr. Orhan KOÇ, Deputy General Manager Faik YILDIRIM, Head of Department Hulusi Armağan YILDIRIM, EYHGM managers and staff, visually impaired individuals, associations and federations operating in the field of visually impaired.

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Orhan KOÇ, General Manager of Disability and Elderly Services; Stating that it is understood how important and accurate an approach is in the pandemic process of accelerating digital transformation efforts in the field of disability and old age, he emphasized that the accessibility of products, services and the environment is the most fundamental element for independent life.

In addition, he stated that the "Accessibility Awards" given by our Ministry within the scope of the "2020 Year of Accessibility" announced by our President received a lot of attention and more than 1,000 project applications were submitted, and that visually impaired individuals and other disability groups in the field of employment were working to solve the problems they may experience in the employment process through job coaching after being employed.

Deputy General Manager Faik YILDIRIM mentioned the improvements in services offered in the field of disabled and elderly and gave information about the work carried out for our visually impaired citizens. Hulusi Armağan YILDIRIM, head of the Social and Economic Life Participation Department, who moderated the meeting, said that in order to meet the needs of visually impaired individuals, requests from ministries, other relevant public institutions, universities, NGOs and families were coordinated and they were open to cooperation in projects and other studies in this field.

At the World White Cane Visually Impaired Week Awareness Meeting, representatives of visually impaired individuals and non-governmental organizations also expressed their problems in daily life and receiving services from institutions and submitted solutions.
