"We continue a successful practice with services provided to disabled and elderly people both in institutional care and in the family"

The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services continues to share its successful practices in the pandemic process in the international arena. In the panel on "Disadvantaged Groups in Pandemics" organized by the World Islamic Health Association, the applications developed especially for the disabled and elderly in Turkey were discussed. The panel was chaired by Orhan KOÇ, General Manager of Disability and Elderly Services at the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services.

Koç noted that serious measures have been taken in the fight against the epidemic since the first day in the opening speech of the panel. "Thanks to the effective measures taken in all institutions and organizations, we have managed to keep the effects of the epidemic to a minimum, especially in disadvantaged groups," KOÇ said, adding that "We continue a successful practice with services provided to the disabled and elderly both in institutional care and in the care of the family, as an example to the whole world." "The fact that we have taken precautions since January 7th, that we have opened new organizations such as isolation organizations, that the staff are working 14-day shifts, that we have given priority in accessing health to the elderly and disabled, and that it is followed up in the organizations for another 14 days after discharge prevented the spread of the epidemic in the organization. These practices also resonated in the international community."

KOÇ concluded his speech by thanking the health and social workers who cannot marginalize the elderly and disabled who have contracted Covid 19, who do not miss their attention and interest, and who will protect their rights and laws by thanking the health and social workers for their selfless work.

University of Health Sciences Professor Dr. Ergül HASGÜL, Physioteapist Emre ÇALŞKAN and Kenyan expert Dr. Zahra ALI also made a presentation at the panel.
