Our Minister Derya Yanık Visited Earthquake Victims


Our Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya Yanık, visited 68 disaster victims who were transferred from nursing homes in Hatay and Kahramanmaraş to Konya Meliha Ercan Nursing Home, after watching the children's play performed at the Konya State Theatre with the children under state protection whose families and relatives could not be reached during the earthquake.

Afterwards, Minister Yanık, who went to Meliha Ercan Nursing Home in Selçuklu district, met with the residents of the nursing home who were transferred here from Kahramanmaraş and Hatay.

Yanık wishing for the earthquake victims, whose rooms she visited, to get well soon, said: "You are precious to us."

In a statement to journalists before leaving the nursing home, Minister Yanık stated that immediately after the earthquake, they quickly evacuated the units in the institutions affiliated to the ministry in the earthquake zone, which they considered to be risky, and continued as follows:

"Right after the earthquake, we evacuated our institutions in the earthquake area, which we consider to be risky, including our units, including our service units for persons with disabilities, older persons, children, women. Then, we will gradually return our guests and residents to our establishments, which are deemed well-established. In order not to risk any life in the first place, children, older persons and women staying in women's institutions, were transferred to safe areas."

Noting that a total of 68 older residents of the nursing home were transferred to Meliha Ercan Nursing Home in Konya, 26 of them were from Kahramanmaraş and 42 of them were from Hatay, Yanık said that they will be hosted here until the work is completed, "We will bandage our wounds, we will continue on our way."
