Our Minister Derya YANIK: “In March, we provided more than 6.6 billion TL in cash benefit to our citizens in need”
Our Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya YANIK, announced that they provided more than 6.6 billion TL in cash benefit to citizens in need in March.
Stating that they support people in need with various social assistance programs, Minister YANIK said: “From Natural Gas Consumption Support to Electricity Allowance, from Housing Assistance to Social Economic Support, from Home Care Allowance to General Health Insurance Assistance, we do not leave our citizens alone.”
Stating that they have established and maintained a rights-based, accountable, sustainable social assistance system that adheres to objective criteria, Minister YANIK made statements regarding the cash benefit that took place in March.
Minister YANIK stated that they provided approximately 231 million TL of Electricity Consumption Support to households benefiting from regular social assistance programs in March.
Minister YANIK stated that the first payments of the Natural Gas Consumption Support, which was implemented in February for the needy households, started, and that they made a payment of 80.5 million TL.
Minister Yanık stated that they support citizens who do not have health insurance or whose health insurance premiums are covered by the Ministry so that they can benefit from health services. Noting that the General Health Insurance premiums were met in this direction, Minister Yanık said: “As the Ministry, we undertook the General Health Insurance premium of 2.6 billion TL, which our citizens have to pay to SGK. In addition, we returned the amount paid under the name of hospital, medicine, prescription and optic contribution fee of 2.8 million TL to the beneficiaries.”
Citizens with disabilities are supported with their families
Stating that they provide economic support as well as developing policies for citizens with disabilities, Minister YANIK said that they have deposited 653 million TL of disability pension, 836 million TL of old-age pension and 1 billion 260 million TL of home care allowance to the accounts of the beneficiaries.
Stating that they aim to protect the family integrity of families in need and that they offer Social Economic Support in this direction, Minister YANIK used the following statements:
“We care about the fact that children grow up as healthy individuals together with their own families by preventing them from moving away from their families and growing up in different environments due to economic reasons. In this context, families in need can meet their children's other needs, especially education, with SED. In March, we provided a total of 236 million TL allowance to our families.”
Minister YANIK stated that with "Conditional Education Assistance", they provide educational support to families with children in primary and secondary education age and who do not have social security, on the condition that children continue to school, and to families in need with children between 0-6 years of age with "Conditional Health Assistance" and that they provide regular cash benefit, provided that they have their health checks done at the times determined by the Ministry.
Minister YANIK stated that they provided approximately 32 million TL of allowance in March within the scope of Birth Assistance for every Turkish citizen and Blue Card holders who request after birth.
Additional resources were transferred to SYDVs for the month of Ramadan
Minister Derya YANIK announced that they transferred approximately 224 million TL of additional resources to Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SYDV) so that households in need could meet their basic needs before the month of Ramadan. Minister YANIK stated that a periodical share transfer of 202.5 million TL to SYDVs was also made and that a total of 426.5 million TL was sent to foundations for the use of citizens in need.
Pandemic support continues
Minister YANIK said that they continue to support citizens in periodic need with the Epidemic Social Support Program, which was implemented due to the Kovid-19 pandemic. Stating that the Phase-3 support application via e-Government continues, Minister YANIK noted that a payment of 8.5 million TL was made in March.
Minister YANIK stated that they also provided allowance to improve the sheltering conditions of citizens in need due to the winter months. YANIK said, “With the Housing Assistance of 3.5 million TL, which we transferred this month, we carried out the construction, maintenance and repair of the houses of our citizens in need, who live in old, neglected and unhealthy houses that cannot be inhabited.”
Stating that allowances for citizens in need continue regularly, Minister YANIK said:
“We did not leave our citizens alone in many topics from Electricity Assistance to Housing Assistance, from Home Care Allowance to Social Economic Support, from General Health Insurance Assistance to Education Assistance. Accordingly, in March, we provided TL 6.6 billion in cash benefit to our citizens in need.”
