Nursing Home Residents Spend The Epidemic Process Participating in Activities


Due to the Covid 19 outbreak, nursing home residents staying in organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services spend their time participating in social, cultural and sporting activities.

During the pandemic, alternative solutions were produced under the coordination of social services so that the elderly could spend their time more efficiently in organizations.

Many activities were organized for the elderly to socialize with pandemic rules taking into account their health status and abilities. The activities were planned as work therapy to help the elderly recover from the negative effects of the pandemic process and increase their commitment to life.

69% of Nursing Home Residents Participated in Social Activities

69% of the residents of the organizations participated in social activities. These social activities included wood painting, jewelry design, rosary making, knitting, writing letters to anyone, poetry and walking. Online concerts and music events were also organized.  

60.2% participated in important day and week activities, such as poetry, reading books, literary and cultural activities, by individuals staying in nursing homes. 

It was also important for organizations to organize sporting activities in accordance with their elderly profile.

Activities such as walking, physical activity and exercise were organized to enable the elderly to move. Psycho-social support activities were continued by paying special attention to each elderly and taking into account the personal needs of each elderly. 49.2% of the residents participated in sporting activities such as exercise, physiotherapy, gardening and mental exercise activities.

Activities that can improve their digital competencies (digital literacy, etc.) to ensure the adaptation of the elderly to new technologies were also included.
