With the National Household Visits initiated under the coordination of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, expert personnel continue to offer social service models suitable for the needs and demands of families by going from house to house. During the interviews, questions aiming to determine the social assistance and social service needs of the households are asked, while the identity information requested from the person is kept confidential at all stages of the process in order to see the services they can benefit from.
Initiated to provide faster and more on-site service to citizens in need, National Household Visits are carried out not only to citizens who benefit from regular or periodic assistance programs, but also to households that have difficulty in accessing services.
How Can Citizens Recognize Staff Visiting National Households?
During the visits to the households, the personnel wear coats or vests of appropriate colours and standards with the logo, while carrying the corporate identity and name badges with the Ministry's logo.
The staff carry business cards and informative brochures with the contact information of the Social Service Centres (SHM) they work for. By sharing these business cards with the person they meet at home, they confirm the security of the information about them. In addition, during the visit, the personnel use the means of transportation with the institution's information and logo.
What Do the Personnel in Charge of Visits Ask the Household Owners They Interview?
Interviews take approximately 30 minutes. During the interview, questions aimed at determining the social assistance and social service needs of the households are asked. The questions are gathered under the headings such as social assistance needs, family counselling or education needs, needs for persons with disabilities or older persons, needs for children, women, relatives of martyrs, and veteran services. By means of these questions, all the needs of the household are determined, and information is given about public institutions and organizations from which they can get support in case of need.
In the interview, identity information is asked in order to match the person to the information system, to follow the services received and the referrals made, to see all the services they can benefit from among the services offered by the Ministry, and to include them in the Family Information System. If there is a need for the services of the Ministry, the necessary application is received in the household. This requested information is kept confidential at all stages of the process. Also, citizens are not compelled to answer questions.
How is the Security of the Interviews Held Under the Program Provided?
National Household Visits are carried out by the professional staff of SHMs, Family Social Support Program (ASDEP) and Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation (SASF). The information is securely stored under the responsibility of the public within the scope of the Protection of Personal Data.
Records of all visits can be tracked through the information system and their accuracy can be verified. The records of which address they went to, which institutions were directed to, what kind of social assistance and social service needs in the household can be tracked through the system.
