Ministry of Family and Social Services Organized an Online “Accessible” Meeting on May 10, 2021 for the Week of Persons with Disabilities


Due to the 10- 16 May Persons with Disabilities Week, the Ministry of Family and Social Services General Directorate of Services for the Disabled and Elderly organized an online “Accesible” Meeting on May 10, 2021. At the meeting, the Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya YANIK, met with the heads of athletes, artists, musicians who have achieved success in their field, as well as the heads of NGOs working on disability.

The online meeting, organized in the form of meeting and information sharing at an interactive level, was the first accesible meeting of the recently established Ministry of Family and Social Services.

Disabled athletes, artists and musicians who have achieved success in our country and around the World met with  the Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya YANIK, and talked about their success and their future goals.

Achievements of individuals with disabilities were appreciated by the Minister of Family and Social Services, Derya YANIK, underlined that the primary barrier to be overcome is individual and social prejudices, and added: “For this, we are carrying out a radical and comprehensive process of change that will transform the social mentality with studies that complement each other.” Disabled people accelerate this process with their work and success. I believe that we will build a Turkey without Barriers by fighting against prejudices together.

Disabled athletes National Weightlifter Döndü YEŞİLYURT, National Wrestler Fatih KAMUZ, National Athlete Havva ELMALI and National Swimmer Sümeyye BOYACI promised new successes, records and gold medals in the Paralympics.

Derya YANIK, Minister of Family and Social Services, stated that their success is supported and that such meetings are planned to be held frequently, and adding: "No barriers can stand in the way of success."
