Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, Minister of Family, Labour and Social Services, celebrated the Eid al-Fitr by video conference method of our elders, whom we hosted in our nursing homes from all over our country due to the pandemic process.

Minister Selçuk, who previously celebrated the Mother's Day of our elderly who remained in our nursing homes on May 10, 2020, celebrated the Eid al-Fitr by meeting with 33 nursing home residents from 25 provinces one by one.

Minister Selcuk met with 33 elderly people from various nursing homes during the holiday that took place via Zoom, said he was saddened that they could not meet face-to-face because of the coronavirus. Minister Selcuk, "This holiday could not be with you, we could not hug you, we could not kiss your hands. Hopefully, we'll all be together by hugging the next holidays. You are precious to us," she said.

Underlining that coronavirus will be fought together, Minister Selcuk said, "We want to protect you because the virus affects you the most. Our measures may be a little tight, but most of them are to protect you. Every time our citizens follow the rules of masks, cleaning and distance, we start to bend our rules on you. Let's hope we play bocce together when this epidemic is over." She said.

Minister Selcuk, inquired after elderly’s health staying in nursing homes  , listened to them too. Our elders who participated in the interview; they expressed their good condition and were pleased with the measures taken and the services provided, and stated that it was valuable for them to meet with the Minister.

73-year-old Emel Bıçakcıoğlu who stayed in a nursing home in Muğla said, "May God bless you all. We are very pleased with the opportunities provided to us. This care does not exist in Europe. Thank you very much," he said.

At the end of the meeting, Minister Selcuk thanked our staff who served in nursing homes for their selfless work and conveyed their greetings to the elderly of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
