Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated: "Darülaceze Social Living City, a visionary project marking the Century of Türkiye, will be opened on November 12 with the presence of Mr. President."

Minister Göktaş noted that the Darülaceze Social Living City, the foundation of which was laid in Arnavutköy Yassıören, Istanbul in May 2022 with the attendance of the President of the Republic of Türkiye H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, would meet all the needs of citizens and children under protection. Reminding that Darülaceze had a deeply rooted history, Göktaş said, " Social Living City Project, which we have realized by preserving the mission of Darülaceze, serving those in need since 1895, will ensure that the historical and social heritage of the institution will be carried to future generations."

Consisting of 23 blocks on an area of over 150.000 square meters

 Stating that the project was designed to consist of 4 floors on an area of 150.000 square meters with the principle of horizontal architecture, Göktaş said: "It consists of 11 blocks including units for healthy persons, bed-bound persons, persons with Alzheimer's and dementia, donor residents and children under protection. In the complex, consisting of 23 blocks with a capacity of approximately 1.000 beds, the rooms are designed for single, 2, 3 and 4 persons. The facility includes an outpatient clinic for health checks, a children's home, a rehabilitation and social center, workshop areas, and worship structures including mosques, churches and synagogues. The rehabilitation-social center includes a fitness center, physical therapy and a Turkish bath, while the landscaping area includes walking paths, different seating areas, bicycle paths, ponds and hobby gardens. Transportation within the campus will be provided by electric vehicles.”

 Stating that Darülaceze was a very valuable model not only for Türkiye but for the whole world in terms of social work, Göktaş said, “Darülaceze is a precious heritage for us. The New Social Living City is likewise a unique model utilizing today's possibilities to the max without breaking its ties with the past. We will inaugurate Darülaceze Social Living City, a visionary project marking the Century of Türkiye, on November 12 with the presence of Mr. President. With this project, which has no precedent in the world, the Ministry will reach out to older persons, persons with disabilities and orphaned children in need of care regardless of religion, language, race, gender and sect."
