Directorate General's "Web Accessibility Standards Trainings" Continues

In the digital world, information presented through texts, videos, news, banners on websites and applications should be in accessible formats so that it can be acquired and understood by all users, including the persons with disabilities and the older persons. In this context, websites and mobile applications, which are the most essential sources of information, should comply with accessibility standards.

Within the framework of the goal of increasing the awareness of these standards, ensuring the accessibility and usability of information and communication technologies in accordance with such standards, and ensuring that the services offered especially in the digital field are accessible to users with different characteristics in an understandable format, i.e. accessible, the General Directorate of Services for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly organizes "Accessibility Workshops: Web Accessibility Standards Trainings".

The trainings, started in 2020 and continued with ten workshops in 2021, were aimed at raising awareness on web accessibility. These online trainings were attended by 3342 people from more than 850 organizations.

Following these trainings at basic level, technically advanced trainings on "WCAG 2.1" and "KAMIS Accessibility Principles" standards were organized in 2022 and 2023, with participation from the Presidency, regulatory and supervisory bodies, higher judicial bodies and ministries. Important steps have now been taken for the implementation of accessible public websites with the training.

In 2024, trainings are continued due to high demand. In this context, training was planned for three different groups of universities. "Accessibility Workshops: Web Accessibility Standards Training" for advanced web content accessibility standards "WCAG 22" and "KAMIS Accessibility Principles" for the staff and administrators working on information technologies of universities started on April 26, 2024.
