"Digital Literacy in the Elderly" and 60+ University of Regeneration


General Manager of Disability and Elderly Services, Exp. Dr. Orhan KOÇ attended the meeting on "60+ Refresh University in the Covid Process" as a guest on 30.06.2020.

The online meeting, chaired by Professor İsmail TUFAN, Head of Gerontology at Akdeniz University Faculty of Health Sciences, and the online meeting on 60+ Regeneration University, were attended by many academicians from Akdeniz University's Gerontology Department and Ministry unit managers and MoFSS experts working in the field of old age.

KOÇ, General Manager of Disability and Elderly Services, said at the meeting; 60+ The University of Renewal, which is an education program for individuals 60 years or older and launched in 2016, said that they have adopted many cooperation with Akdeniz University and that 60+ Regeneration University should be institutionalized.

Mr. KOÇ also pledged that the Social Responsibility Project of Akdeniz University (AU) Old Age Studies Research and Application Center will accelerate negotiations with YÖK (Higher Education Institution) in order to ensure that 60+ Regeneration University, where adults are studying at university, is widespread in our country.

The General Manager also emphasized the necessity of studies aimed at improving sports activities such as Bocce as social activity, improving their communication with the environment of the elderly, increasing their participation in social life, supporting their personal development and facilitating their lives. in the field of services provided for older individuals, he noted the importance of elderly individuals not spending this process alone at home and ensuring intergenerational solidarity.

He said they knew the importance of digital literacy education in the elderly involved in the Presidential Action Plan and that efforts were being made to promote "Digital Literacy in the Elderly".
