Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, got together with residents of Sultangazi Nursing Home by means of “Welcome our Noble Elders” programme organized by Sultangazi Municipality at Mimar Sinan Urban Forest Scouting Camp.

Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, stating that childhood is important since it means future, said: “We are learning a lot from children even in a little time when we are with them. We see the future, we see energy. Youth has a value in itself but when we are with our elders it is important to hear experience, a life; it is contributing and enhancing.”

Minister YANIK, who stated that they try to come together with children, the youth, and the elders on all occasions, said:

“Childhood is important since it means future. We are learning interesting things from children even in a little time when we are with them. We see the future, we see energy. Youth has a value in itself but when we are with our elders it is important to hear experience, a life; it is contributing and enhancing.” It is almost a process providing prescription for life. Therefore I love coming together with our elders, conversing with them. Your experience is a prescription, a source, trust, and a prayer for us. Listening to your experiences is a prayer incarnated.”

Minister YANIK, who mentioned about the financial and emotional losses during the pandemic, stated: “The rate of affection from the pandemic is especially high for our elders. But thankfully in our country we handled it quite well the rate of affection from the pandemic of our elders is 6/5 less than the world average.”

Minister YANIK said that it is not just because of state institutions but also the elders have contribution.

YANIK, emphasizing that it has a significant role to comply with, respect, and believe in the precautions for realizing them, thanked the elders since they showed patience during the process.

After her speech, residents of the nursing home presented their paintings to Minister of Family and Social Services Derya YANIK.

During the event, the 76^th birthday of Şevkiye TUNA, one of the residents of the nursing home, was celebrated with a birthday cake.
