Autism Scanning is Carried Out for Children under State Protection through “Notice Me” (Beni Fark Et) Project
In cooperation with the Ministry of Family and Social Services and Gülhane Training and Research Hospital, the "Notice Me Project" was launched in order to identify children with autism at an early stage and direct them to appropriate education, treatment and rehabilitation.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Family and Social Services, General Directorate of Elderly Services, General Directorate of Child Services and Gülhane Training and Research Hospital, 164 health and care personnel working at Ankara Children’s Homes were provided education on autism spectrum disorder and developmental disorders, through the project carried out in order to identify children with autism who are under care and protection.
Following the completion of the personnel training, within the scope of the project carried out by the volunteer doctors working at the Gülhane Training and Research Hospital, autism scanning of children aged between 18 months and 6 years under state protection started in Ankara. As a result of the scans, the follow-up of children who are diagnosed with autism or who are found to be at risk for autism will be carried out by the physicians in charge of the project.
It is aimed to disseminate the project throughout the country.
With the project, it is aimed to identify children with autism staying in institutions at an early stage, to direct them to appropriate education, treatment and rehabilitation, and to prepare them for life by making use of appropriate care models.
With "Notice Me", it is aimed to raise awareness of professionals and care personnel in terms of carrying out necessary studies to improve the adaptive skills of children with autism.
In the first stage, the scanning of children raised under the protection of the state in Children's Homes and Children's Home Sites in Ankara will be completed by the end of October. Project will be expanded throughout the country and will cover all children staying in Children's Homes and Children's Home Sites.
