41.4 Billion TL Support from the Ministry of Family and Social Services to Those in Need in 8 Months
A total of 41.4 billion TL was paid in the 8-month period of this year, within the scope of social assistance implemented by the Ministry of Family and Social Services for those in need in various fields such as education, health, shelter, and food.
The scope of social assistance implemented by the Ministry of Family and Social Services in order to protect and strengthen family integrity and increase social welfare is being generalized.
While support is provided to those in need with social assistance offered under various topics such as family, persons with disabilities, shelter-food, health, education and project supports, the Ministry has social support packages in many items in this context.
Within the scope of family benefits, 240 million TL support was provided in the January-August period of this year as maternity benefit for those who gave a birth.
Within the scope of the "Regular Allowance Program for Widowed Women" for women who do not have social security in the household, who are in need within the scope of Law No. 3294 and who have lost their last officially wedded spouse, 340.9 million liras of support was provided between January and August 2022.
The payment in the "Allowance for Orphans" made for children in need under the Law No. 3294, whose mother, father or both have died, was recorded as 96.9 million between January and August 2022.
In the Regular Allowance Program for Soldiers' Families, which is carried out to support the families of soldiers who do their military service, who do not have social security and who are in need under the Law No. 3294, during their military service, 94.8 million liras of allowance was provided between January and August 2022.
The amount of allowance in the "Allowance for Soldier Children" for children who do not have social security and are in need within the scope of Law No. 3294, whose father is in the military, was 2.2 million liras between January and August 2022.
In case of disasters and emergencies, the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SASF) between January 2022 and August 2022, within the scope of assistance to meet the basic needs of citizens such as food, clothing, shelter, etc. provided 24.24 million liras of support.
In order to meet the various needs of the relatives of martyrs and veterans, "Allowance for Relatives of Martyrs and Veterans" was recorded as 5.1 million liras between January and August 2022.
A large number of people in need were supported with the Family Support Program
In line with the "Türkiye Family Support Program", which enables families in need to be supported on a monthly basis with different allowance amounts for 4 different income ranges determined according to the per capita income in the household for a maximum of 10 months between July 2022 and July 2023, since July 1.3 billion TL has been provided.
On the other hand, within the scope of food assistance provided by Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SASF), especially before Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, and throughout the year, in order to meet the basic needs of families in need, such as food, within the scope of Law No. 3294, between January 2022 and August 2022 allowance worth 721.1 million TL was provided.
Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SASF) provided soup kitchen services to people who were determined to be in need, who were determined by the decision of the Board of Trustees, to be older persons, persons with disabilities, sick, and unable to cook at home. Between January and August 2022, 135.1 million TL allowance was given.
Between January 2022 and August 2022, 70.6 million TL of allowance was delivered to those in need, living in uninhabitable old, neglected and unhealthy houses, within the scope of maintenance-repair, reinforced concrete and prefabricated house construction assistance and in-kind or cash benefit for the purchase of household goods regarding the scope of disasters.
The electricity consumption expenses of the households in need benefiting from regular social assistance programs were assisted. In this context, 2 billion 570 million TL resources were allocated in the January-August period of 2022.
Support was also provided to citizens without social security
Within the scope of the assistance provided to citizens over the age of 65 who do not have social security and whose monthly income per capita is less than one third of the net minimum wage, taking into account the person and his/her spouse, 7.36 billion TL were delivered to those in need between January and August 2022.
5.13 billion allowance was given between January 2022 and August 2022 in line with the assistance provided to persons with disabilities who do not have social security and whose per capita income is less than one third of the net minimum wage.
The amount of allowance provided to persons with disabilities under the age of 18, who do not have social security and whose per capita income is less than one third of the net minimum wage, was recorded as 634 million TL for the 8 months of this year.
Within the scope of the project, between January 2022 and August 2022, 118 million TL support was provided for the homes of older persons and persons with disabilities who are in need but cannot meet their personal care and essential needs, those who cannot fulfill their own self-care due to severe chronic diseases, and those over the age of 65.
Within the scope of the assistance carried out to meet the needs of all kinds of tools and equipment that will facilitate the integration of persons with disabilities in need, between January and August 2022, an allowance amounting to 2.3 million TL was provided.
Reaching those in need with assistance in the field of health
In line with the refund of the amount paid by the general health insurance holders and their dependents within the scope of the relevant articles of the Social Insurance and General Health Insurance Law in terms of hospital, medicine, prescription and optical participation fee, an allowance of 24.7 million TL was provided between January 2022 and August.
With the regular cash benefit program developed for patients suffering from psycho-social and financial losses due to tuberculosis and SSPE disease, 40.2 million TL was paid between January and August 2022.
General Health Insurance (GHI) Premium Payments were 20.9 billion TL between January and August 2022.
In line with the Natural Gas Consumption Support, 114.2 million TL has been provided since the March-April 2022 period.
On the other hand, with the assistance program for Turkish citizens whose relatives passed away on and after April 15, 2022, within the scope of Law No. 3294, an allowance of 3.84 million TL has been reached since April-August 2022.
Families without social security and in need within the scope of Law No. 3294 were also provided with assistance on the condition that children continue their formal education and do not attend more than 4 days of absence in a month during the months when the school is open. Between January and August 2022, an allowance amounting to 733 million TL was provided.
Within the scope of the Vefa Program, 179 million TL were allocated
At the beginning of each academic year and throughout the year, in order to meet the basic school needs of the children of families in need, who are in the scope of Law No. 3294, such as stationery and bags, 9 million TL allowance was provided between January 2022 and August 2022, by the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SASF).
Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SASF) provided assistance for transportation, food and shelter needs of primary and secondary school students within the scope of Law No. 3294, which is outside the bussed education system of the Ministry of National Education. In this direction, 1.3 million TL of allowance was provided between January and August 2022.
Studies were carried out to determine the current needs of the households of citizens benefiting from regular and periodic assistance programs, to identify the changing needs and new assistance programs, and to identify the citizens in the households that had difficulty in reaching support. In this context, 171.9 million TL were transferred to Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations in August of this year.
The social assistance program, carried out by the Ministry, was implemented to meet the essential needs such as house cleaning and personal care of the social assistance beneficiary citizens who have severe chronic diseases and have difficulty in fulfilling their self-care. The Vefa Program was made a national program by the Ministry of Family and Social Services by applying it throughout Türkiye. Within the scope of the program, a resource of 179 million TL was allocated in order to use it until the end of the year.
Derya Yanık, Minister of Family and Social Services, shared the details of the new social assistance package announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan yesterday.
Yanık stated that they have increased the amount of allowance within the scope of the Türkiye Family Support Program and said: "We are expanding our program by adding 25 billion TL to our current budget, 15 billion TL, so that more of our citizens can benefit from our program. In this direction, we increase our allowance amount from 450-600 TL to 850-1250 TL.
